Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about pkglog.com and how its content can be used
About the Site
What is pkglog.com?
pkglog.com is a personal technical blog. Most posts are about C++ systems and network programming, with others on web development, databases, and DevOps. See the About page for more on what it covers and why.
Who writes the content?
One person, 0xmote, a developer who writes C++ for a living. Many posts start as problems from day-to-day work, rewritten with fresh examples and checked against official documentation. An AI assistant helps with drafting and editing, but code examples are run and checked before they go up.
Is the content available in other languages?
Posts are written in Korean and English. Many exist in both languages, but not every post has a translation, and the two versions are sometimes updated at different times.
Content and Updates
How often is content updated?
There is no fixed publishing schedule. Existing posts are revised when:
- a library or tool changes in a way that breaks an example
- a reader reports an error or something out of date
- I find a clearer explanation or a better approach
Posts that no longer hold up may be merged into a better one or removed.
How do I know if a post is current?
Each post shows when it was published and when it was last updated. Where the version matters, posts name it (for example, "C++20" or "Next.js 15"), so you can tell which release an example was written against.
What if I find an error?
Please let me know through the contact page, with the URL and a short description of the problem. Confirmed errors get fixed, and simple ones usually within a few days.
Usage and Licensing
Can I use the code examples in my projects?
Yes. You can use code snippets from posts in personal and commercial projects; a comment pointing back to the source is appreciated. Please don't republish whole posts as your own content. The Terms of Service have the details.
Can I share links to articles?
Of course. Link to posts from social media, documentation, or anywhere else; no permission is needed for links.
Can I translate articles to other languages?
Please ask first through the contact page. I'm open to it, but would like to know where the translation will be published.
Technical Questions
Which programming languages are covered?
C++ gets by far the most coverage, organized into series. There are also posts on Python, Go, Rust, and TypeScript/JavaScript, though in less depth.
Do I need prior programming experience?
It depends on the post. Each one is labeled with a level:
- Beginner — little or no prior experience with the topic assumed
- Intermediate — assumes you already write code in the language or tool
- Advanced — assumes solid working knowledge of the topic
Can I ask specific programming questions?
For questions about a post here, use the contact page. For general programming help, communities like Stack Overflow will usually get you an answer faster.
Contributing and Collaboration
Can I request a tutorial on a specific topic?
Yes. Send suggestions through the contact page. I can't promise to cover every request, but topics that fit what I work on and know well are the most likely to be written up.
Do you accept guest posts?
The site is written by one person, so guest posts aren't a regular thing. If you have an idea for a co-written post or another kind of collaboration, get in touch with a short description.
How can I support the site?
The most helpful things are:
- reporting errors or outdated information
- sharing a post with someone it might help
- suggesting topics you'd like to see covered
The site also shows ads through Google AdSense, which helps cover running costs.
Advertising and Privacy
Does the site use cookies?
Yes, for traffic analytics (Google Analytics) and ads (Google AdSense), but only with your consent: a banner on your first visit lets you accept or keep essential storage only. The Privacy Policy explains the details.
Do you publish sponsored content?
Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense and chosen automatically by Google. If you have a sponsorship or partnership inquiry, use the contact page. Any sponsored post would be clearly labeled as such.
Still Have Questions?
