Privacy Policy

1. Who Runs This Site

pkglog.com is a personal technical blog run by one person. If you have a question about this policy, or want to ask about, correct, or delete information related to you, please get in touch through the contact page. Reasonable requests will be handled within the limits of applicable law.

2. What Information Is Collected

There are no accounts, sign-ups, or comment forms on this site, and I don't keep my own visitor logs with names or email addresses. Information is handled in the following ways:

  • Usage data (Google Analytics) — pages viewed, referring page, approximate location, browser, and device type. Google collects this on my behalf, and I only see aggregated reports.
  • Advertising data (Google AdSense) — Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to show ads and, if you allow it, to personalize them based on your interests.
  • Email you send me — if you write to the address on the contact page, I receive your email address and whatever you put in the message.
  • Browser storage — the site stores your light/dark theme choice and your cookie consent choice in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to me.

I do not sell visitors' personal information or provide it to anyone in exchange for payment.

3. Cookies and Your Consent

When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow cookies. Until you choose Accept all, Google's tags run with advertising and analytics storage set to "denied" (Google Consent Mode), which asks Google not to set advertising or analytics cookies. If you choose Essential only, that setting stays in place; ads may still be shown, but they won't be personalized.

  • Analytics (Google Analytics) — measures traffic and which pages are read. Uses _ga and related cookies.
  • Advertising (Google AdSense) — serves ads and, with your consent, personalizes them based on your visits to this and other websites.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. To change the choice you made in the banner, clear this site's data in your browser and reload the page.

4. Google AdSense and Advertising

This site shows ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ad Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services here.

5. Third-Party Services

Each of these services is governed by its own privacy policy. Some of them may process data on servers outside South Korea, where this site is operated.

6. How Long Information Is Kept

Data collected by Google and Cloudflare is kept according to their own retention policies. Emails you send me are kept only as long as needed to answer them, and deleted on request.

7. Your Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask what personal information related to you I hold
  • ask for that information to be deleted
  • refuse analytics and advertising cookies

To make a request, use the contact page. Cookie choices can be made directly through the consent banner or your browser settings.

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not intended for children under 14, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent me personal information, please let me know and I will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may change when the law or the services this site uses change. Any update will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
